Writing Home: Correspondence in the Great War

Letter writing formed an important communication link between those who were serving in Europe and their loved ones at home in Canada. For many, letters were the only contact they had for the four years of the conflict. Soldiers wrote of the conditions on the front, their thoughts of home, and their emotions at losing those who fought with them.

One hundred years later, letters like these show the humanity of the millions of people caught up in the Great War.
