Even though the Armistice was signed, the limited availability of vessels meant that soldiers had to wait months before they could return home.<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"x-row x-container max width e996-e34 mro-f mro-g mro-i mro-j mro-n mro-p mro-u mro-v mro-1e mro-1f card\"><div class=\"x-row-inner\"><div class=\"x-col e996-e35 mro-2q mro-2s mro-2t mro-2u mro-2v mro-2x mro-3d mro-3h mro-3i\"><div class=\"x-div e996-e36 mro-48 mro-49 mro-4a mro-4g\"><div class=\"x-text x-content e996-e37 mro-5k mro-5l mro-5m mro-5p mro-5q mro-5s mro-5t mro-61 mro-62 mro-67 mro-6o mro-6q mro-6r\">The primary concern for the Canadian Army at the end of the war was keep the waiting soldiers occupied. Organisations like the YMCA and the Maple Leaf Club provided entertainment, reading rooms, and hostels, all for use by the soldiers waiting in England to be demobilised.
